Regino Perez-Polo, University of Texas, USA
J. Regino Perez-Polo, Ph. D. was born in La Habana, Cuba, and came to the US in 1960. He received a BS and ME in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a PhD with Dr. Eric M. Shooter at Stanford in Biophysics followed by postdoctoral training with Dr. Paul Berg, also at Stanford. He then joined the faculty at UTMB in 1977 where he is presently Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Institute for Translational Scieince. Dr. Perez-Polo’s research interest are in celllular and molecular responses to nervous system trauma after head injury and hypoxia/ischemia during brain development.
