Simon Hippenmeyer

Simon Hippenmeyer studied Molecular Biology and carried out a PhD in Neurobiology with Silvia Arber at the Biozentrum and FMI in Basel, Switzerland. He was a postdoctoral fellow supported by EMBO, HFSP and SNSF in Liqun Luo’s laboratory at Stanford University, USA; In July 2012, he moved to IST Austria where he started his independent laboratory. His research focusses on fundamental neurobiological questions and includes the dissection of the cellular, molecular and epigenetic mechanisms of neural development and circuit assembly. The Hippenmeyer laboratory is funded, by IST institutional funds, EC CIG, HFSP program grant, an n[f+b] grant from NÖ Forschung und Bildung, and in 2016 he was awarded ERC consolidator grant.
