Patricia Gaspar, Institut du Fer à Moulin, France

Patricia Gaspar is a research Director at Inserm in Paris.  She received her M.D. and PhD at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, training in neurology and neuropathology. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University (Jon Kaas). Establishing her team at the Hospital Salpêtrière and later at the Institut du Fer à Moulin in Paris, she studied the developmental role of neurotransmitters focusing on implications of early 5-HT dysfunction on neural circuit development and implications in neuropsychiatric disorders. Her team demonstrated the role of 5-HT signaling on activity-dependent circuit maturation in the barrel cortex and in the visual system. Currently the lab is focusing on the mechanisms of 5-HT pathway development, and on the mechanisms underlying the effects of early life stress on brain wiring.

Patricia Gaspar is author of 120 research papers and reviews. She has been very active in training, promotion and animation of the French Neuroscience community and in international scientific evaluations.
