Eva-Maria Albers, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany
Dr. Eva-Maria Albers is a Research Group Leader at the Institute of Developmental Biology and Neurobiology and in the Focus Program of Translational Neuroscience at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. She received a PhD in neurosciences at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) in 1997. She was further trained in molecular cell biology and neurogenetics at the Centre for Molecular Biology Heidelberg (ZMBH) and the MPI for Experimental Medicine (Göttingen). Her research interest is focused on cellular neurosciences in particular the molecular mechanisms of neuron-glia interaction and myelin biogenesis in health and disease. She studies the principles of membrane traffic in myelinating cells and the role of extracellular secreted vesicles in neural cell communication.
